Can I search for a business here?

Choose the state where the business is registered. Our guide links to the official registry and explains how to use it. You enter the business name or entity number on the government website; we do not host a nationwide company database.

Which state should I search?

Start with the state where the business was formed or registered to operate. A company can have records in several states. A trading name may also be recorded as a DBA or fictitious name with a different office.

Does an active record prove good standing?

A registry result helps you identify a business and check its recorded status. If a bank or another state asks for formal proof, use our state certificate guide to find the official ordering service.

Does an empty search mean a business name is available?

No. Search spelling variations and check the state’s name rules. A missing record does not guarantee that the filing office will accept a name or that it is clear of trademark rights.
