Change the record
Update the agent before the move.
A California entity changes its agent for service through the appropriate Statement of Information, amendment, or agent-change filing. The base change itself is commonly no-fee when included in a required Statement of Information, but a standalone amendment or special filing can carry a fee. Use https://www.sos.ca.gov/business-programs/business-entities/forms and BizFile Online to select the entity-specific form. The new agent must satisfy California eligibility and address requirements.
Before submitting, confirm the successor’s legal name, physical address, email requirements, consent language, and whether the state permits an online change at the same time as an annual report.
