West Virginia LLC law permits an individual resident of West Virginia, domestic corporation, LLC, or authorized foreign corporation/company to act as agent, with a West Virginia address for service. The agent and office are public; a P.O. box alone does not satisfy the physical service-address requirement.
West Virginia agent changes: forms and fees
Registered-agent and office changes use the entity-specific SOS statement through One Stop Business Portal and the current fee schedule. The replacement must qualify and consent; confirm the exact amount and update the public record after acceptance.
Resignation, notice, and effective dates
A West Virginia agent resigns by filing the statutory resignation notice and giving required notice to the entity; the effective period and fee depend on the entity/form. Resignation does not appoint a successor, so the entity must promptly maintain a qualifying WV agent.
Consequences of a missing agent or address
An entity without a valid West Virginia registered agent or office can miss service, suffer default, lose good standing, face revocation or administrative dissolution, and lose authority to transact. Limited substitute service does not eliminate the continuing appointment requirement.

Keep the accepted filing and confirm the agent or service address shown for the business. Arrange forwarding of legal notices during the change, and check which contact information will be public before supplying a home address.
